My article:
Using NLP and Positive Reinforcement to teach the Alexander Technique
Has now been published in the May 2025 edition of ExChange, the in-house magazine of
Alexander Technique International
The pdf version is here ATI_Exchange_May2025_Using-NLP
Please note that this is written for Alexander Technique teachers, so it is a bit technical and has a bit of jargon. However, feel free to read it. It is a summary of how I can now teach what took me over five years to learn in about ten weeks to most people.
I will also be presenting my methods to the triennial International Alexander Technique Congress in Dublin, this August 2025.

About Loosen Up.org
This site is a resource to learn about the advantages of using the Loosen Up method of teaching the Alexander Technique, both for teachers and for pupils.
In the near future, this site will be updated to make the advantages of the Lossen Up method and the Alexander Technique much more easy to understand for the general public worldwide. At that point, there will be a seperate site as a resource for Alexander Teachers.
Currently there are no teachers other than myself trained in the Loosen Up method. However, I am now publicising my methods through my article in ExChange, the in-house magazine of Alexander Technique International and a presentation at the triennial International Alexander Technique Congress. I will then host a list of teachers who are open and agreeable to my methods and a list of teachers who have trained in them specifically. There are many excellent teachers around, even without using my methods and I will be producing a list of teacher organisations worldwide, so you can find someone near you.
For people in the Plymouth, Devon and East Cornwall areas, information about my Plymouth practice is at AlexanderTechniquePlymouth.co.uk
This site is also a useful resource for anyone else to learn about the Technique.
Loosen Up
Loosen Up is a way of learning the Alexander Technique, quickly and easily. What took me over five years to learn, most people can learn in about ten weeks.
The Alexander Technique uses a simple way of thinking to be able to relax below the plateau level that most people think is relaxation. This allows your natural poise and coordination to restore themselves, which means you will tend to move more easily and stand taller without any noticeable effort.
In other words, the Alexander Technique is a way to Loosen Up!
